The Specific and General Details

Description
This adventure combines so many elements, it’s hard to summarise. You begin on one of the most fascinating walks through history—The Convict Trail. The walk is designed to highlight the incredible trials faced by past convicts and is steeped in powerful stories from the past. It’s difficult not to become immersed in the experience. There’s no need to rush this.
Once you reach the peak of the trail (it’s not a difficult walk), you descend through forests and natural features, passing creeks and rock formations along Shepherds Gully until you reach the ‘main’ Settlers Road, where your bikes will be waiting.
From here, you set off on the road to St Albans. With an abundance of farms, open spaces, valleys, and picturesque lakes, it’s inevitable you’ll want to take photos and soak in the scenic surroundings. At times, it feels almost unreal. Take your time—breathe and enjoy.
Your destination is St Albans, a quaint historical village where the Wombat Café or Settlers Inn awaits. It’s your choice—enjoy delicious food and drinks, coffee or something stronger, under the trees or overlooking the village. The ambience always reflects the season, and no matter the time of year, this village delivers in spades.
From here, we’ll meet you and return you to the starting point at the bottom of the Convict Trail, where your journey ends—but the longing to return will no doubt last a lifetime.

Weather affected bookings
Whilst Wisemans is seldom a worry, if the weather turns this can affect the activities.
- We watch the weather very closely. We have zero intention of putting anyone in harms way. So if we feel you may be at any risk whatsoever, we will advise you of our concerns. We also reserve the right to cancel your booking if we believe it is too risky. You can either choose a refund or reschedule.
Our equipment
Whilst we endeavour to cater to everyone, it's not always possible to accomodate every shape, size or need. As our fleet grows, the availability of more options will arise.
- We have a combination of e-bikes and standard pedal bikes. Most are suited to an average size person. As you are not competing, this should suite most people.
- Bikes are maintained so users won't need to worry.
- Our bikes are only intended for general hybrid conditions (NOT for mountain biking!)
- Our Canoes are suitable for beginners to advanced social users and the type of water you'll find yourself on. They are regarded as safe and sturdy. No canoes are enclosed.
- Any protective gear such as helmets and lifejackets meet the required Australian standards.
Useful info
- Whilst the full package entails a specific route, there is no problem adjusting this to suite your needs or a variation to this. We can discuss the options and tailor make the trip so that you feel entirely comfortable and enjoy every minute.
- The elevated price takes into consideration the three points of contact and transport back.
- Telstra service is best in the valley, but from time to time there are pockets of no coverage. By sticking to the route, you should have no problems finding your way and enjoying each moment.
